We were working on Mindfulness. Exploring different topics to help us be more alert and aware in our everyday life.

1) Accept responsibilities for our own actions, even the most insignificant ones. We have the habit of not assuming our mistakes, but we are always very conscient of our victories, especially when they don´t belong to us.

2) Availability: It is usless to be accessible all the time for the others, as it is usless to be hiden when everybody knows where we are. Alternating these two states, we don´t get tired  senseless and we don´t make the others feel tired of our presence.

3) We don´t need to look for approval in the eyes of the others. We have to be coherent with our own actions, attitudes, and values. It is necessary to look inside for approval not outside, we need to feel confident and trust ourselves.

4) It is essential to be fully conscious of who we are and how we act. It is useless to complain and be sad, saying that somebody else is making us feel that way. Nobody is doing anything to anybody, and least of all, if we are in deep contact with our inner strength.

5) There´s always a tiny bit centimetre of luck at our reach. The real art consits in letting us flow and use it.

All of us possess and inherent power to get some things. The real secret would be in deviating the energy wich we put into our weaknesses and employ it in our real life goals.

FIRST POEM

SPEED AND THOUGHT
FEELING OF LOSS
THE BURDEN OF AGE
THE AGE OF OUR SOUL

TO CONQUER YOUR SOUL
BEWARE!!!
DON´T LET IT FORCE YOU TO TRAVEL SO

SECOND POEM

LET´S OPEN OUR HEARTS
THE BURDEN OF AGE
SHOULDN´T CHOOSE
CRYING AS A PATH

HOW OLD DO YOU FEEL
WHEN PAIN KNOCKS AT YOUR DOOR?
STOP AND SEE
BE OPEN AN ALERT, JUST FEEL

SPEED AND THOUGHT
ENERGY SURROUNDING US
YOUR SOUL WILL SURE
TAKE YOU ASHORE

Participants were asked to write a paragraph or poem about their feelings and emotions in the creativity recovery process.  Once they finished writing it each one read it and the other members wrote down phrases and words which resounded in them. Next step they re-wrote their first writing adding the parts they had written down. Here’s one of the member’s activities:

1st task: “I sighed deeply, not to cry

                 and  what could happen

                  if I tried?

Is crying  the path? To take out longings of the past

                 Lost dreams and lost loves?

And if I dared a little more

making a change just to start

and opened my mouth with a big smile?”

2nd task: “I sighed deeply, not to cry

                       the feeling of age

                       gave pain to my heart.

There are things I should’ve learnt in life

if I want to conquer my soul

I have to leave behind the burdens I don’t like

Now I can realize lost dreams and lost loves

made me wiser and opened my heart.

Now there’s a big smile in my mouth every day when I wake up”.

Our repetitive suffering does not come from the uncomfortable situation of feeling our bodies and faces tense and as if we had a lump sitting in our stomach, that can physically hurt – this experience itself is not a problem.

Our repetitive suffering comes from what happens next, when we are spinning off , or getting swept away. It comes from rejecting our own energy when it comes in a form we don’t like. It comes from continually strengthening habits of grasping and aversion and distancing ourselves. In particular it comes from our internal conversations – our judgements and labels about what’s happening.

Next coming meeting: 25th june at 10.30 a.m.

We’ll continue working on our recovery creativity process. “The source of our unease is the unfulfillabe longing for a lasting certainty and security, for something solid to hold on to. But our energy and the energy of the universe is always in flux, and we have little tolerance for this unpredictability, and we have little ability to see ourselves and the world as an exciting fluid situation that is always fresh and new. Instead we get stuck in a rut of continually getting hooked by our personal preferences. That is “shenpa” from: “Taking the Leap” by Pema Chödrön

Why has “Necklaces & Ties” been working with creativity groups for the last three years and everybody feels some kind of improvement in their personal and professional lives?

Because we believe creativity is the capacity each human being has to be able to change the vision of  the environment according to the connection with their own self. In this way, we can have the ability to adapt and generate new things. It is known that this capacity can be strongly determined by our genetics, but it can also be discovered, developed and stimulated. (Julia Cameron: The Artist’s Way).

So we have to learn how to feel more self-connected, seld-supported and self-loved  in order to be effective in the competitive and materialistic world we all live in. We strongly believe that if we want to dicover and recover our creative growth  we need to count with a supportive space , group or net, to share our dreams, ideas, projects and above all a healthy attitude towards life.

Last Saturday our group had a beautiful picnic meeting! We all shared lovely moments sitting on the grass under tall shady trees… We worked hard, as usual, on very deep and moving topics such as: “what to do when we are caught up in emotional distress.” Even though the seriousness of the reading and conversation, we were able to connect with a good sense of humour so important to help us when we are thrown into “cognitive shock”.
